  • Who is eligible for Meals on Wheels?



    Individuals, that by receiving a nutritional meal will be able to maintain their independence, living at home. This includes:

    • Seniors
    • Adults who are chronically ill
    • Adults living with a disability
    • Adults recovering from surgery or illness
    • Adults undergoing medical treatment

    Your provider will confirm eiligibility.


  • Is there a cost to Meals on Wheels?

    Yes. As Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit service, the cost is kept to a minimum. The cost does vary, your provider will confirm cost with you.

  • Who do I contact about a complaint?

    For any issues or complaints involving Meals on Wheels, please contact your local provider directly.

  • What if nobody is home for the delivery?

    To ensure the clients’ safety and security, if a client does not answer their door, volunteers have been instructed to contact the Meals on Wheels office who will try and reach the client by phone. If the client cannot be reached by phone, the staff will telephone the designated emergency contact for that client. Meals are given away if no alternate arrangement has been made.

  • Can I change my Meals on Wheels order?

    Yes, you can. You can contact your provider, and they will be happy to help you.

  • Can a meal be cancelled for a specific day?

    Yes, meals can be cancelled for a specifc day.  Please let your provider know as soon as possible, as a charge may be applied if too little notice is given. Another alternative is to arrange to have the meal left with a neighbour if the client is not home.

  • What if I have dietary restricitons?

    It is important that you receive meals that meet your dietary restrictions or spiritual needs. Some examples of special meal plans that may be offered included diabetic, vegetarian, pureed, minced, low-sodium, and gluten free. Please tell your provider about your dietary requirements and they will work with you to meet your needs.
